SCIENTIFIC MEETING
10/16/07 OEDIPAL FLOWERS:
THROUGH POETICS TO 'O'

Presenter: Karen Morris, NCPsyA, LP
Discussant: Merle Molofsky, NCPsyA, LP

Summary: Drawing upon Bion¹s notions of analytic stance and the function of hallucinosis from the analyst¹s perspective, Karen Morris explores the dynamic, unconscious processes behind the selection of elements through which treatment is constructed. Poetry which emerged out of material from analytic sessions will be interspersed with an understanding of clinical material, personal history and historic world events. She will discuss the use of poetry as an expressive technique in a case of trauma and addiction whereby the primitive edges of experience continue to shape successful outcomes in treatment.

Labyrinth Books Presents:An Evening w/Michael Eigen- March 21, 2007 -http://www.labyrinthbooks.com

Summary: As long as feelings are second-class citizens, people will be second class citizens. Experience is an endangered species. An important function of psychotherapy is to make time for experiencing. Psychic taste buds really exist and rarely rest. They feed us each other, gauge states of being, states of spirit. We taste each other's feelings and intentions. An important aim of this book is to build psychic taste buds, not put them down or pretend they don't exist.
